Rupakot villagersRene & Kathy Perez-Silva will be traveling to Nepal on March 7th, 2014. The purpose of this trip is to hold a 2 day general health camp that will benefit the villagers of Rupakot, Nepal. This endeavor has not been easy given the short amount of time that we have to put this all together. However, through our relationships with international medical and non-profit personnel we have been able to put together a fantastic team of doctors and volunteers to work at the health camp. We expect to see between 500 & 600 patients during the 2 day camp. Most of these patients will be coming from the villages in the surrounding hills. Many of the villagers have never seen a physician or had a health assessment and many will walk for hours for this opportunity. This will be an exciting opportunity for them to receive diagnosis and treatment for free.

The Manipal Hospital in Pokhara, Nepal is providing equipment free of charge and has been more than kind in agreeing to see patients who need more advanced care at a reduced rate. They are also willing to accept our referrals. These patients will be transferred via the newly donated Project For A Village Ambulance.

Along with the work that we are doing to put the health camp together we are working on developing  a metrics analysis tool that will be used at the health camp. This will generate a needs assessment report that will be invaluable in guiding our future endeavors in rural Nepal.
