It was fitting that when we opened our mail today we received the Johns Hopkins Public Health Magazine. The issue is a special issue that is titled, “Food, Stop and Think.” I was excited to see the article, “The Himalaya’s Hidden Hunger,” which highlights the problem of malnutrition in Nepal and it’s effects on this poverty stricken nation. We cannot thank our friends and donors enough for reaching out to the villagers through the donations towards our purchasing of prenatal and children’s vitamins.  Problems such as these can appear to be overwhelming, and they are. However, even a simple thing like a vitamin pill can save a life.  As stated in this magazine, poor nutrition causes nearly half of deaths in children under 5 – 3.1 million children every year.

Thanks again to everyone for your generosity and help in this adventure. We leave on Thursday, March 7, and will update on this blog and our Facebook pages during our trip.

Namaste!
