Happy 2018! We at Project for a Village hope you enjoyed a peaceful holiday season and a happy start to this year.

After a busy 2017, we’re looking forward to another bright year ahead. PFAV’s biggest upcoming project is our yearly trip to Nepal next month! Ten volunteers – including six making the trip for the first time! – will accompany Rene and Kathy Perez-Silva to host the annual women and children’s health camp in Pipildanda, Sindhupalchok. They will provide Pap smears, gynecological exams, and general check-ups along with prenatal and children’s multivitamins, vitamin A, and deworming treatments. PFAV will also distribute menstrual hygiene kits, toothbrushes, and toothpaste; apply fluoride treatments; and offer instruction on dental hygiene, general health, and personal safety.

While in Nepal, the volunteers will visit other PFAV initiatives including the Days For Girls Micro-Enterprise in Dhading Besi, the computer learning lab in Rupakot, and the TEJ (The Educational Journey) mentorship initiative near Kathmandu. And after working the health camp on March 17th and 18th, the group will make a trip to Bhutan to experience more of the rich culture of our neighbors in south Asia.

Since all donations go directly to our projects, your support goes a long way toward purchasing medical supplies and housing the support staff in Nepal. All volunteers pay their own way to and from Nepal and for any travel costs not expressly related to the health camp. Even if you can’t come with us this year, consider joining us as a donor!
